54th Probability Summer School
Saint-Flour (France), June 29th - July 11th 2026

The public procurement contract was awarded on March 6 to Hôtel des Planchettes (https://hotel-restaurant-ancien-grand-seminaire.fr/). We can therefore now share the following information with you (we apologize for the late communication).

Lecture schedule

The first lecture is scheduled on Thursday June 30th. The last lecture will finish on Saturday July 11th noon. Lectures take place in the morning (09:00-10:30 and 10:45-12:15). There will not be lecture on Sunday 5th (excursion day).

Talks (given by participants)

Besides lectures, participants of the school are invited to give talks (35 minutes) about their research work. Talks take place in the afternoon. Blackboards and a computer connected to a video projector will be available for these talks. Pdf files should be stored on a USB key. An email will be sent to participant to choose a slot (please register for only one slot).

Shuttle Clermont ⟷ Saint-Flour

We will organize a shuttle from Clermont-Ferrand train station (SNCF) around 5:30 PM and the Clermont-Ferrand airport around 6:30 PM on Monday, June 29, and arriving at Hôtel des Planchettes in Saint-Flour around 7:00–7:30 PM, in time for dinner.
For the return journey, a shuttle will be organized on Saturday, July 11, departing at around 11:00 AM and arriving at the Clermont-Ferrand airport or SNCF train station. This schedule will allow you to catch the train to Paris departing around 2:00 PM.
Please prefer arriving and departing via Clermont-Ferrand by train whenever possible.

Other ways to come to Saint-Flour

The City of Saint-Flour is decomposed into a Lower Town ("Ville Basse") and an Upper Town ("Ville Haute"), and the Hôtel-Restaurant Ancien Grand Séminaire, where this 2026 summer school takes place, is on the slope between them.

By train: Saint-Flour can be accessed via Clermont-Ferrand. In Paris, trains to Clermont-Ferrand leave from Gare de Bercy. From Clermont-Ferrand, Saint-Flour is accessible by SNCF regional trains and coaches. Some coaches have an additional stop (called "les allées") in the upper town, which is closer to the Hôtel-Restaurant Ancien Grand Séminaire.

By air: Clermont-Ferrand airport has regular flights to Paris CDG and Paris Orly. See also Air France. From the airport, the railway station is accessible by city buses or regional TER trains (train stop "Aulnat Aéroport" on the line Clermont-Fd-Thiers-St-Etienne)

By coach: Clermont-Ferrand is connected to Lyon, Paris and other main cities by the following companies: Flixbus and BlaBlaCar.

By car: Saint-Flour is on the A75 motorway (Clermont-Ferrand - Béziers) 100 km south of Clermont-Ferrand. The access to the "rue des Planchettes" is from the road between the lower and upper towns.

Laundry

Please bring a laundry bag, as the hotel offers a laundry service (approximately €10). A laundry basket is usually placed at the reception desk. There are also self-service laundromats near the hotel.

Excursion

An (optional) excursion to the Puy de Dôme is planned on Sunday, July 5. Please bring suitable walking shoes, sunscreen, and warm clothes, as the weather can change quickly.

Social event

On Saturday evening, July 4, there will be a cocktail reception.

Sport

Please also bring sports shoes, as there is a synthetic football field and a street workout area located about 10 minutes’ walk from the hotel. There will also be a pétanque court and equipment available to play badminton. Ping-pong facilities are also available for your use.

Additional information

A packed lunch will be provided to every participant on Sunday, July 11, and also on July 11 at departure.
